Salad Beach, also known as Haad Salad, is a sheltered bay on Koh Phangan’s northwest coast. Its name is often translated as «Pirate Beach» — in the past, this quiet cove was reportedly used as a hideout for pirates, while today it’s one of the island’s more relaxed and family-friendly beaches.
The sand is soft and light, and the sea is usually calm with a gentle, shallow entry — great for kids, easy swimming and lazy floating. A coral reef stretches along the bay, just a short swim from shore; at higher tide it’s a lovely spot for snorkeling with schools of fish and colorful coral below.
Small resorts, restaurants and bars line the beachfront, but the overall vibe stays quiet: no big parties, no heavy nightlife — more about hammocks, sun loungers, kayaks and sunset views over a calm sea. It’s a solid choice if you want to slow down, recharge and enjoy a softer side of Koh Phangan.
